CTC relies on a network of French and international multidisciplinary partners to carry out its missions.
CTC maintains close links with these institutional bodies.
French Hides and Skins Federation
The French Hides and Skins Federation includes companies representing more than 90% of the French trade in raw hides and skins, and managing the leather raw materials from around 200 abattoirs throughout France. These companies are collectors and traders, slaughterhouse groups, experts, and sworn brokers. Since 1948, the French Hides and Skins Federation has been promoting and defending the interests of rawhide professionals and member abattoirs, and taking action to improve hide quality in France.
The French Federation of Tanners brings together around sixty companies, including
45 industrial companies, employing 1,741 people and generating €400 million in annual sales. French tanners tan 4.8 million m² of hides a year, with all categories combined. The French Federation of Tanners works to defend the interests of French tanners and leather finishers with public authorities in the industrial, social, legal, and environmental fields. It also runs promotional campaigns for its members in France and abroad.
In terms of lobbying and communications, the French Footwear Federation acts at the highest level to ensure that the voice of the footwear industry is heard and to support its ambitions in France, Europe, and worldwide. More specifically, the French Footwear Federation maintains a constant dialogue with companies in the footwear sector, developing partnership policies with all the players involved, both in and outside the industry. It initiates numerous promotional actions to enhance the visibility of its members in the French and international spheres.
French Leather Goods Federation
Founded in 1937, the French Leather Goods Federation represents and defends the interests of its member companies, which are French leather goods manufacturers. It plays an active role in promoting their products and expertise. Fully aware of new economic challenges, the French Leather Goods Federation has adapted to changes in the sector and the development of the profession in the luxury goods industry, which has become the driving force behind French production and exports, providing many jobs in France.
French Glove-making Federation
The mission of the French Glove-making Federation is to defend the interests of the profession and to help develop the reputation of French glove-makers, both nationally and internationally. The French Glove-making Federation is also responsible for liaising with trade unions to ensure that the profession runs smoothly in terms of employment and salaries, in compliance with legal obligations.
French Union of Footwear Distributors, Importers and Exporters
The French Union of Footwear Distributors, Importers, and Exporters (UDIC) is the organisation of distributors, importers, and exporters of footwear. It groups 60 member companies, mainly from the food and specialised retail sectors, sports shops, retailers, department stores, and mail-order companies.
Created in 1948, Alliance France Cuir (AFCuir) is the inter-professional organisation of leather producers and users and, by extension, of all those who contribute to the production, use, or distribution of leather. Formed as a confederation, it brings together 21 professional federations or unions, from breeding to distribution of finished products. AFCuir lobbies on behalf of its members' interests. It participates in the collective promotion of leather raw materials and consumer goods. It is involved in promoting leather trades and training, and manages the economic observatory for the leather industry.
CTC is the Professional Economic Development Committee for the French leather industry and, as such, attaches fundamental importance to initiatives promoting French manufacturing and the development of new businesses in its various sectors, particularly leather goods and footwear. To this end, CTC provides several transversal schemes with financial support:
Au-Dela du Cuir (ADC) was founded in 2012 as a joint initiative of the French Footwear Federation and Alliance France Cuir. It is supported by the leather industry and financed by the allocated tax. ADC is a cross-sectoral initiative designed to stimulate the leather industry by encouraging the emergence of new leather goods, footwear, and accessories companies and promoting French design. It is the successor to the Cuir & Création initiative launched by CTC in 2009.
Led by CTC and supported by the French Leather Goods Federation, the French Footwear Federation, the French Federation of Tanners, , Alliance France Cuir and ADC, Faire De Lance (FDL) is “the industrial platform for the French leather industry. Its aim is to facilitate connections between French-based project initiators (emerging or more established designers and fashion brands) and French manufacturers (manufacturers, workshops, or craftsmen). FDL's objective is to contribute to the preservation of know-how in France and to encourage ‘Made in France’”.
To promote innovation, CTC is in touch with several internationally renowned skills centres, schools, and universities, enabling us to work on joint research topics.
Convinced that today's students will be our future partners, CTC is developing educational partnerships with schools and universities offering scientific and technical courses, as well as programmes in fashion design, management, and marketing.

Based on tests carried out in its laboratories and using resources adapted to changes in standards and recognised by many global organisations, CTC also assists manufacturers in obtaining the assessments required to market their products in France and internationally. These assessments establish the conformity of products with specific requirements. The Leather Working Group is one of them.
