CTC was founded in 1899 as a raw hide research centre. At the time, its activities were focused primarily on fighting the varroa mite - a parasite – and, more broadly, on skin quality.
Over the years, CTC has gradually evolved into a centre of high added-value expertise for French manufacturers of leather, footwear, leather goods, gloves and personal accessories in general.
CTC’s internationalisation in 1996 marked a turning point, enabling it to build a global network of experts. This strategy has not only consolidated its position as a leader in quality control, it has also strengthened its role as a consultant for the main players in the leather industry around the world.
CTC is now an essential partner for French and international companies selling accessories or garments in the fashion, luxury goods, sports, distribution and personal protective equipment (PPE) sectors.

CTC has the necessary accreditations to certify its technical skills and to guarantee the reliability and quality of its services. CTC’s quality control services are accredited to ISO 17020 for inspection work, ISO 17025 for laboratory testing and analysis services, and ISO 17065 for certification.
