CTC was founded in 1899 as a raw hide research centre. Its activities at the time focused mainly on fighting the varroa mite - a parasite - and more broadly on skin quality, through two entities: the Research Institute for Leather Industries (IRIC) and the National Centre for Varroa Mite Control.
Over the years, CTC has evolved into a centre of high added-value expertise for the leather, footwear, leather goods and glove industries, and more generally for the personal goods sector.
Created in 2008 from a merger between a Professional Economic Development Committee, an Industrial Technical Centre and the leather industry's style bureau, CTC is the natural point of support for the entire French and international fashion, luxury goods, leather, footwear, leather goods and glove industries, and a major player in R&D for companies in the field.
