The CTC chemical analysis laboratories boast state-of-the-art equipment and specialists with expert knowledge of the materials, components and chemicals used in the fashion, luxury goods, sports and personal protective equipment sectors.
They are ISO 17025 accredited and ideally located in the main manufacturing and sourcing regions (Europe, China, India, Vietnam, etc.).
Our experts are on hand to provide personalised assistance, ensuring you receive the right solutions and high-quality, tailored support.
CTC is heavily involved in international standardisation committees and benefits from the expertise of its regulatory watch specialists. This enables us to anticipate changes in standards and provide you with pertinent analysis services.
We are able to recommend the most appropriate analyses, taking into account not only the materials of your product, but also the regulations applicable in the country or countries where you wish to market it.
CTC can support you with a full range of services, from the preparation of “RSL” specifications, to chemical, physical, biomechanical and environmental testing, and international monitoring of substances of concern.
At CTC, we perform chemical testing to quantify substances that are harmful to humans or the environment. These tests can be carried out on all types of items (leather, footwear, leather goods, gloves, clothing, accessories such as belts, personal protective equipment, etc.).
Based on our knowledge of the "leather", "textile", "polymer" and "metal" matrices, our experts can help you determine the right test programme for the different materials in your products.
We also carry out chemical testing in the "water matrix" through our microbiological analysis laboratory (also called environmental analysis laboratory).
The end result is a tailored chemical analysis programme that meets the specific requirements of your products. A few examples:
The test programme will also take into account your internal quality requirements (specifications, RSL or Restricted Substances List).
Products are tested for hazardous chemicals that may be allergenic, irritant or CMR (carcinogenic, mutagenic or reprotoxic).
CTC's expertise enables us to identify critical substances of very high concern (SVHC) in leather, textile and polymer materials.
Among the substances that are regulated or known to be hazardous, the CTC laboratories offer the following analyses (non-exhaustive list):
Consumer goods intended for sale on the European market must comply with numerous chemical restrictions, in particular those set out in the REACh Regulation. This is a European Union (EU) regulation adopted at the end of 2006 to protect human health and the environment from the risks associated with chemicals.
Annex XVII of the REACh Regulation sets out mandatory restrictions for goods intended for European consumers, whether manufactured in a European Union country or outside Europe. This annex is updated regularly, as new requirements for chemicals are introduced. CTC's regulatory watch services enable you to anticipate upcoming changes.
In addition to restrictions, the REACh Regulation may require you to disclose the presence of certain substances in your products. These are substances identified as being of very high concern (SVHC) on the Candidate List.
Ultimately, Europe aims to include these SVHCs in its Annex XIV, making their use subject to authorisation. European factories will no longer be able to use these chemicals without express authorisation.
CTC's ISO 17025 accredited chemical analysis laboratories are highly specialised in leather and textile materials, components and chemicals used in fashion, luxury goods, sports and personal protective equipment.
They are uniquely qualified to give you objective feedback on the quality of your materials, as well as their durability and hazard potential.
They are ideally located in manufacturing regions in Europe, China, Vietnam, etc.
