Laboratory analysis and testing

Physical and chemical tests ensure that your materials and finished products meet regulatory limits and deliver the expected performance.

This exclusive database allows you to find the main tests to be performed by CTC based on the product, technical criteria, and/or standards.

Insert behavior
The metal insert should have no more than 3 corrosion points, none of which should be larger than 2 mm. FootwearMechanical risk / PEEEN ISO 20344 §5.11.2 / EN ISO 20345 §6.2.1.4.2
Inserts bending strength
This method is used to assess the resistance of inserts to repeated bending. FootwearMechanical risk / PEEEN ISO 20344 §5.12 / EN ISO 20345 §6.2.1.4.1
Contact heat resistance (HRO)
This test verifies the sole's resistance to contact heat, so as not to burn the foot. FootwearMechanical risk / PEEEN ISO 20344 §8.9 / EN ISO 20345 §6.4.1
Hydrocarbon resistance (FO)
This test assesses the resistance of the sole material to the action of liquids by measuring material properties before and after immersion in a petroleum derivative. FootwearMechanical risk / PEEEN ISO 20344 §8.8 / EN ISO 20345 §6.4.2
Insert perforation (P / PL / PS)
During use, footwear may be subjected to puncture stress. The aim of this test is to verify the extent of protection on the one hand, and the puncture resistance of the sole on the other.   FootwearMechanical risk / PEEEN ISO 20345 §6.2.1
Bending resistance
This method is used to evaluate the repeated flex resistance of elastomer outsoles FootwearMechanical risk / PEEEN ISO 20344 §8.5 / EN ISO 20344 §8.6 / EN ISO 20345 §5.8.5
Abrasion resistance
The outsoles and top-pieces are parts subjected to abrasion wear. This test is used to evaluate the durability of these components subjected to these stresses. FootwearMechanical risk / PEEEN ISO 20344 §8.4 / EN ISO 20345 §5.8.4
Tear resistance
This test is used to check the intrinsic tear propagation resistance of the outsole material. FootwearMechanical risk / PEEEN ISO 20344 §8.3 / EN ISO 20345 §5.8.3
Water absorption / desorption
This method is used to evaluate water absorption and desorption for insoles and insocks. This information is particularly important for hygienic comfort. Absorption quantifies the ability to “keep the foot dry”, while desorption checks whether water absorbed will be salted-out at a sufficient rate to avoid promoting the spread of bacteria. FootwearMechanical risk / PEEEN ISO 20344 §7.2 / EN ISO 20345 §5.7.3
Abrasion resistance
During use, the inside of shoes is subjected to relative movements of the foot. This repeated friction can lead to wear, which this test helps to anticipate. FootwearMechanical risk / PEEEN ISO 20344 § 7.3 / EN ISO 20345 § 5.7.4.1
Abrasion resistance
In use, the shoe inner is subjected to the associated movements of the foot. This repeated friction can cause wear, which this test is used to anticipate. FootwearMechanical risk / PEEEN ISO 20344 §6.12 / EN ISO 20345 §5.5.3
Water penetration and absorption (WPA)
This test is used to measure the water resistance of upper material. It evaluates both the water penetration time and the quantity potentially absorbed. FootwearMechanical risk / PEEEN ISO 20344 §6.13 / EN ISO 20345 §6.3
Permeability and water vapour coefficient
This test is used to quantify the breathability of an upper material, by evaluating the quantity of water vapour that can potentially pass through it. FootwearMechanical risk / PEEEN ISO 20344 §6.6 / EN ISO 20344 §6.8 / EN ISO 20345 §5.4.6
Tensile properties
This test is used to evaluate the breaking strength and elongation of leather. FootwearMechanical risk / PEEEN ISO 20344 §6.3 / EN ISO 20345 §5.4.4
Tear resistance
The tear strength is an important factor for shoes, parameter. This method is used to evaluate the tear strength of the instep materials. FootwearMechanical risk / PEEEN ISO 20344 §6.3 / EN ISO 20345 §5.4.3
