Abrasion resistance

Objective

During use, the inside of shoes is subjected to relative movements of the foot. This repeated friction can lead to wear, which this test helps to anticipate.

Principle

The test consists in rubbing a damp wool felt covered with a wool textile (400 back-and-forth strokes) over a specimen taken from the first assembly. The result is the loss of material thickness (expressed as a % of the initial thickness).

The final thickness must not be less than 66% of the initial thickness.
