Tear resistance

Objective

This test is used to check the intrinsic tear propagation resistance of the outsole material.

Principle

The test consists of measuring the force required to propagate a notch on a trouser- shaped sample taken from a sole. The test is performed on a dynamometer at a rate of 100 mm/min.
The result corresponds to the tearing force expressed in N* or in N/mm**.
