Laboratory analysis and testing

Physical and chemical tests ensure that your materials and finished products meet regulatory limits and deliver the expected performance.

This exclusive database allows you to find the main tests to be performed by CTC based on the product, technical criteria, and/or standards.

Contact heat resistance (HRO)
This test verifies the sole's resistance to contact heat, so as not to burn the foot. FootwearMechanical risk / PEEEN ISO 20344 §8.9 / EN ISO 20345 §6.4.1
Hydrocarbon resistance (FO)
This test assesses the resistance of the sole material to the action of liquids by measuring material properties before and after immersion in a petroleum derivative. FootwearMechanical risk / PEEEN ISO 20344 §8.8 / EN ISO 20345 §6.4.2
Insert perforation (P / PL / PS)
During use, footwear may be subjected to puncture stress. The aim of this test is to verify the extent of protection on the one hand, and the puncture resistance of the sole on the other.   FootwearMechanical risk / PEEEN ISO 20345 §6.2.1
Bending resistance
This method is used to evaluate the repeated flex resistance of elastomer outsoles FootwearMechanical risk / PEEEN ISO 20344 §8.5 / EN ISO 20344 §8.6 / EN ISO 20345 §5.8.5
Abrasion resistance
The outsoles and top-pieces are parts subjected to abrasion wear. This test is used to evaluate the durability of these components subjected to these stresses. FootwearMechanical risk / PEEEN ISO 20344 §8.4 / EN ISO 20345 §5.8.4
Tear resistance
This test is used to check the intrinsic tear propagation resistance of the outsole material. FootwearMechanical risk / PEEEN ISO 20344 §8.3 / EN ISO 20345 §5.8.3
Color fastness to ultra-violet Light
Yellowing phenomena of white colours can be a big nuisance. The purpose of this test is to cause accelerated colour ageing through exposure to UV, to anticipate the in-use behaviour of leather. FootwearColor fastnessNF G 52 300
Resistance to tear strength
This test is used to check the intrinsic tear propagation resistance of the outsole material. FootwearMechanical resistanceEN 12771 - ISO 20872
Resistance to tensile strength and elongation
This method is used to evaluate the breaking strength and elongation of the sole material. This can give an indication as to the overall quality of the material. FootwearMechanical resistanceEN 12803 - ISO 22654
Abrasion resistance
The outsoles and top-pieces are parts subjected to abrasion wear. This test is used to evaluate the durability of these components subjected to these stresses. FootwearMechanical resistanceEN 12770 - ISO 20871
Flex resistance (small size)
This method is used to evaluate the repeated flex resistance of elastomer soles. It is specially reserved for children footwear (size below 34). FootwearMechanical resistanceISO 132
Flex resistance
This method is used to evaluate the repeated flex resistance of elastomer outsoles. It is reserved for sizes above 34. FootwearMechanical resistanceEN ISO 17707
