Resistance to tear strength

Objective

This test is used to check the intrinsic tear propagation resistance of the outsole material.

Principle

The test consists of measuring the force required to propagate a notch on a trouser-shaped sample taken from a sole. The test is performed on a dynamometer at a rate of 100 mm/min.
The result corresponds to the tearing force expressed in N* or in N/mm**.
