Laboratory analysis and testing

Physical and chemical tests ensure that your materials and finished products meet regulatory limits and deliver the expected performance.

This exclusive database allows you to find the main tests to be performed by CTC based on the product, technical criteria, and/or standards.

Corrosion of metal accessories
This test is used to determinate the propensity of a metal surface to corrode due to the action of salt water BeltPerformanceEN ISO 22775 Méthode 2
Damp heat - 40° - 96% HR (72 hours) with intermediate rating
The purpose of this determination is to assess the wet heat behaviour of a whole item, of a material sample or of an assembly. This test is in particular highly useful for evaluating the risk of corrosion of metal parts in the presence of leather materials. BeltPerformanceCTC method - CTC-P-P-025
Resistance of the buckle
The purpose of this determination is to assess the quality of the fixation of a buckle from a belt. BeltPerformanceCTC method - CTC-P-MA-015
Resistance of barb
The purpose of this determination is to assess the quality of the fixation of the tongue of a buckle from a belt. BeltPerformanceCTC method - CTC-P-MA-015
Spring resistance / reversibility ressort
The purpose of this determination is to judge the quality and fixing of the reversibility spring. BeltPerformanceCTC method - CTC-P-MA-015
Color fastness to rubbing (wet condition) - 50 cycles
This test is used to check whether repeated rubbing is able to cause deterioration of the leather colour, on the one hand, and whether the colour can run (transfer) on to the backing material. BeltPerformanceEN ISO 11640
Color fastness to rubbing (dry condition) - 100 cycles
This test is used to check whether repeated rubbing is able to cause deterioration of the leather colour, on the one hand, and whether the colour can run (transfer) on to the backing material. BeltPerformanceEN ISO 11640
Flex resistance under load
This test reproduces the stresses to which the materials are subjected during flexing movements, and is used to check that the backing materials have suitable finishes, coatings, etc. It is particularly relevant for shoulder straps, handles, belts, watch straps, etc. For belts, this test simulates opening and closing movements. BeltPerformanceBS 5131 § 4.2
Tear resistance (longitudinal cut)
The tear strength is an important parameter for shoes, leather and leather goods. Leather items are subjected to stresses in assembly or in use. This method is used evaluate the tear resistance of leather. BeltPerformanceEN ISO 3377-1
