The method based on standard EN ISO 7854, méthode C intended to subject the materials to a torsion/bending test with
the aim of analyzing the behavior that the material will have in face of severe use, in terms of their ability to bend under ardouous conditions (garments, shoes, leathergoods).
A rectangular specimen of textile, coated textile support or leather is sewn into a cylindrical shape. The cylinder is mounted between two discs and fixed in position.
One of the disks oscillates on its axis by 90°, which induces a torsion of the cylindrical specimen. At the same time, the other disc moves back and forth along its axis, causing the specimen to compress along its length. A visual inspection is carried out at the end of the test.
Mecanical testings (abrasion, tear strength, tensile elongation, adhesion to finishing for example) can be carried out before and after ageing in order to obtain a quantified degradation.
