Lateral opening strength of fastener chain

Objective

This standard is used to evaluate the performance and durability of zip fasteners.

Principle

The test consists of measuring the force required to open the chain. A standardised ageing process can be applied to check the effects of wear on the chain. Hence, the initial test can also be performed after ageing. The result corresponds to the chain separation force, before and after ageing, expressed in N*.
