Tear strength of constituent materials

Objective

The purpose of this determination is to assess the quality of the constituent materials of the items, and thereby form an opinion on their in-use behaviour.

Principle

The test consists of measuring the force required to propagate a notch on a sample taken from the tested item. The test is performed on a dynamometer.
The result is expressed in daN (decaNewtons).
