Abrasion resistance of shoe laces

Objective

In use, the laces are subjected to a shearing effect in their eyelets. This shearing can break the lace. The purpose of this test is to validate the compatibility of the lace / eyelet pair in terms of durability

Principle

The test consists of subjecting the lace, under a specific tension, to a to-and-fro motion in its eyelet, in order to evaluate the damage the latter causes, and the fraying behaviour of the lace itself. The result corresponds to the number of cycles taken for the lace or eyelet to break.
