This test is used to check the water resistance of leather soles to ultimately ensure that the wearer’s feet will remain dry.
The test consists in positioning a rectangular specimen on the holder of a device which reproduces in-use stresses: continuous water supply (to simulate sweat), flexing (pumping effect of walking) and compression. The results comprise the transit time expressed in minutes and a calculated degree of water resistance, to evaluate the overall performance level of the sole.
Type: Physical and mechanical test
