Shrinking temperature

 

Objective

This test determines the shrinkage temperature of leather up to 100°C, and is applicable to all leathers.

 

Principle

This test consists of immersing a leather sample in water. The assembly is heated in water at a rate of 2°C/min ± 0.2°C/min. When a shrinkage of 0.3% is observed, the temperature is noted and recorded as the shrinkage temperature.
