Water resistance of footwear

Objective

This test is used to determine the water resistance of the shoe as a whole. The test simulates walking in wet grass.

Principle

The test consists of placing the shoe in a vessel in which a spray system coupled to rollers applies to-and-fro motions against the shoe (as in a car wash). The water resistance is checked periodically by noting any traces of moisture in the shoe.
The result corresponds to the transit time, expressed in minutes, and the water absorption in gram.
