This test is used to check whether repeated rubbing is able to cause deterioration of the material colour, on the one hand, and whether the colour can stain (transfer) onto the backing material.
The test consists of subjecting a 100*25 mm specimen to rubbing (to-and-fro) under constant pressure, with a wet standardised felt pad. The result corresponds to the sample deterioration rating, and the staining onto the felt according to the greyscale (1 => maximum contrast – 5 no contrast).
