This method is used to assess the resistance of materials to large splashes of liquid metal.
The test consists of pouring a quantity of molten metal (depending on the performance level claimed) onto a test piece placed on an inclined frame (75° for iron).
Next, a standard PVC film placed behind the test piece is examined for any degradation (smoothing, changes in the film's embossing or relief over a width of more than 5 mm). Any traces of adhesion and/or solidification on the surface of the test piece are also noted.
