This method enables the assessment of thermal insulation by contact with a complex of material making up an article.
A heat source is placed at the test temperature (between 100 and 500°C). The materials to be tested are placed in contact with the heat source and the time required to obtain a temperature elevation of 10°C between the source and the opposite side of the materials is measured.
