A standard for the thermal pre-ageing of leather
Within the framework of the safety analysis of leather, some clients impose artificial pre-ageing: light or thermal pre-ageing. With regard to the latter, a new standard has just been published.
EN 407 standard April 2018 revision (standard heat and fire protection gloves)
Standard EN 407 'Protective gloves against thermal risks (heat and/or fire)' was published in 2004 and is still used today. It confers presumption of conformity to the essential requirements of Council Directive 89/686/EEC, which regulated the marketing of personal protective equipment (PPE) and was repealed by Regulation (EU) 2016/425 on 21 April 2018.
PPE: New 2016/425 regulation
In March 2016, the new 2016/425 regulation on Personal and Protective Equipment was voted by the European Parliament. This document repeals Council Directive 89/686/EEC.
