Creation of the National Research Center to eradicate cattle grubs. (Hypoderma lineatum and Hypoderma bovis). A cattle grub is a fly that lays eggs on the hide of cattle. The eggs hatch and the larvae attack the hide of live cows interspersing it with holes and defects rendering the hide useless for tanning operations.
